Advantages of nitrogen-filled tires

  • The tire pressure will be very much stable for a long period of time. Oxygen molecules are smaller than nitrogen ones, so they penetrate the rubber tire walls faster. If you use high-purity nitrogen in your tires, the pressure drop due to gas leakage will be minimized significantly thus your tire pressure will be very stable for a long time and you will not be required to top it up frequently.

  • In addition, it provides the rubber inside your tires with no oxygen and thus no corrosion, so the tires will last for a longer time. The rubber, the cord layers, and the rims (especially aluminum alloy ones) inside the tires are being slowly rusted and are getting worn out over time because of oxygen and moisture that exist in the air. This makes the rubber ages faster and the cords get weaker. However, dry nitrogen is an inert gas and it stops this process from going on, thus it both your tires and rims will have a longer lifespan.

  • Also, dry, no-water, no-oil nitrogen protects the metal valve stem and the sensitive TPMS sensor (that’s the tire pressure monitor).

  • Unlike oxygen, nitrogen does not react to the change of temperature as much. Even under conditions like driving at high speed, carrying heavy loads or driving in a rough manner, tires that are filled with nitrogen will not get heated as much or as fast.   • Nitrogen is an inert gas—meaning it doesn't burn, and it won't help fire ignite. In the case of super extreme scenarios, like when a tire becomes excessively hot or the brakes overheat and catch fire, it lowers the chances of the tire burning or exploding. So, for certain areas such as racing, flying, or mining, using nitrogen to fill the tires is a total necessity.
