Functions of Refrigerated Air Dryer

Compressed air entering the air network usually contains 100% water vapor. The vapor will condense as the air cools down, which will not only damage your compressed air system but also impair your final products. Without an air dryer installed, up to 90 liters of water can enter your compressed air system on a daily basis.

HONGBO compressed air dryers can completely remove moisture from compressed air. Dry compressed air ensures the smooth operation of both the compressed air system and the entire production process. HONGBO series refrigerated air dryers and adsorption air dryers are available to provide you with dry compressed air with different dew point temperatures as required.

 

Working Principle of Refrigerated Air Dryer

Air Flow

Compressed air enters the pre-cooler (1) through the air inlet for preliminary cooling, then flows into the evaporator (2) of the refrigeration system for further cooling by the system. The cooled compressed air passes through the condensate separator (3), where the condensed water is discharged out of the unit via an automatic drainer. The dried and cooled compressed air then returns to the heat exchanger (1) for temperature recovery, and finally exits the refrigerated air dryer through the air outlet.


Refrigerant Flow

Refrigerant is converted into a high-temperature liquid state by the refrigeration compressor (6). The high-temperature and high-pressure liquid refrigerant is cooled down to a medium-temperature state in the condenser (air-cooled or water-cooled). It then passes through the drier filter (9) for impurity filtration, and is converted into a low-temperature and low-pressure gas-liquid mixture by the expansion valve or capillary tube (10). Finally, it enters the evaporator (2) for heat exchange with the hot compressed air to complete the refrigeration cycle, and then returns to the refrigeration compressor (6) to continue the cyclic operation.
